P.E.E.R    Investigations

The New Oxford Cemetery, New Oxford, PA
September 23, 2006

Members of PEER had been contacted several times by several individuals with stories and occasions of suspect hauntings at the New Oxford Cemetery. The stories included the sighting of orbs and spirit figures (ecto) in photographs and even seeing orbs or lights with the unaided eye. These stories prompted us to gain permission to perform a nighttime investigation.

Investigation Details

Nine PEER members participated in this investigation. We initially broke into two teams dividing the cemetery performing several wide scans. The air temp was in the mid 60s, time ranging from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm. It had rained several days prior to the investigation up to six hours prior to the investigation. A slight and dim fog did move in and out during the evening making it difficult to get clear photos. Many photos were taken during this period and several select photos are presented below. Among them are many with what we have determined during the study are false orbs caused by moisture droplets in the air. There are a few however; containing orbs that do not fit the usual moisture pattern as well as some photos with unexplained lights, blurs and mist that have been determined NOT to be from the fog.

We spent a lot of time trying to debunk this photo. No, it is not a strap or any other object placed in front of the camera. Note there are actually 2 objects in the photo, one much dimmer and to the right of the bright object. Could this be a vortex?

The interesting thing with this photo is the occurrence of footsteps being heard by the investigator who took this photo. Steps were heard seconds before taking the photo and no, there was no body else even close by.

There are 2 green lights in this photo. The obvious one to the left of the photo seems to be in motion, perhaps movement by the photographer. However, the dimmer and blurry light to the right is not consistent with the light on the left if you consider camera movement.

The first and obvious object in this photo is the orange light in movement to the left of the photo. Now take a look at the blue/grey streak to the bottom right of the photo near the camera. Again, inconsistent movement action/type.

This photo and the next one were taken in sequence, within seconds.

Do you see the white object entering the bottom right of the photo?

The ecto is faint in this photo but look carefully, we did. Under close examination, this ecto does not display the same characteristics and the fog in many of the other photos. It is quite unique.

This photo shows a unique orb in which 2 investigators seemed to unsuspectedly hone in on at the same time.

This photo was take by the man in the previous photo. You can see that he too captured an orb in his photo which was taken a few seconds after the previous photo to the left.

The bright colored orb captured in this photo is unique to this photographer/investigator. It is clearly different in shape, luminosity, color, and transparancy than what he captured that evening.

The investigator was a little excited when first seeing the 'ecto' on this photo during the investigation. His excitement was doused a bit when he asked another investigator to try to duplicate it.

This is the experimental/test photo that was taken by the other investigator a minute later. This photo was taken pointing straight up into the air right in front of the investigators face. Just before snapping the picture, he breathed out.

There was only one photo submitted by this investigator. Upon inspection and study of this photo, it was determined that the light to the right of the tombstone is a flash reflection on different tombstone that is in the next row, behind the front tombstone. If you look closely, you can see a little bit of the second stone on the left side of the first stone.

This photo really took us by surprise at first. During our study of this photo, we realized that there was a tombstone in the next row that caused this 'ghostly image' behind and above the small tombstone. Then we noticed what appeared to be second image in the first image. It was then that another investigator remembered that site and confirmed that the tombstone in the back row did indeed have discoloration giving the appearance of a 'whitish ghostly image' on the stone.

A baseline of EMF was run the day prior to the investigation. During several vigils throughout the investigation, we did have unexplained EMF readings, which seemed to be in response to questions. At one point, one of the detectors went completely erratic and off the scale.

An analog recorder was also used during the vigils. During the same vigil that had the erratic EMF readings, there is one voice, a sigh, that is heard on tape. Several investigators have confirmed that the sigh is not from any of the investigators or anyone else that was physically present during the vigil.
