P.E.E.R Investigations
| Maple Avenue, Hanover PA June 27, 2009
At 300 Maple Avenue in Hanover PA, secrets were kept and spirits were troubled. Family secrets that were kept away from the public and media had burdened the living and the dead in a way that had dire effects on all those who were living in this house. Voices from beyond had caused Deanna and Tom Simpson, the current owners, to run from their house looking for someone in trouble and needing help. Noises and actions by a presence that could only be observed by their two Siamese cats were a frequent occurrence. And perhaps most discerning were the calls for help and crying in the middle of the night. All these occurrences of a paranormal nature had set the stage for Deanna and Tom to live in their house where a full night's sleep was a rare occasion. |
| Investigation Details
When we rolled up into the driveway, my wife Tina and I met our resident clairvoyant and Jan and Steve Bolze. As we were standing outside on the sidewalk gathering our equipment from our cars, our resident clairvoyant's psychic abilities quickly began zeroing in on some spirit activity. In addition to several spirits wanting an audience with her, she got an impression of possible residual energy that had nothing to do with this specific property. Our crew that night was small so we concluded that we would start out together with only one team and vigil.
Once inside the house, Deanna guided us to the kitchen that we setup as our base. Before we even had the chance to ask Deanna to give us a tour of the house, many of the spirits that greeted us outside, were now in the kitchen with us being very insistent on making their presence known and spending some time with our resident clairvoyant. It seemed that Tom had quite a few family members hanging around the house; possibly there as his and Deanna's Guardian Angles and Spirit Guides.
Deanna provided us with some history about the property that started back in the 1920s. From our research, we were able to verify that Deanna and Tom were the third owners to live in this house. We also verified that at least three people died in this house, two men and one woman. There is also a story of a young man in his early teens that died in the house. It is said that he died in the basement of a self inflicted gun shot. It was now our task to attempt to either debunk or validate this story and that is how and where our evening’s investigation began.
We decided to setup a video recorder in the living room that would capture and activity occurring in the small hallway area. From this one point, the camera could capture any activity moving out of the living room and kitchen as well as the doorways of two bedrooms, a bathroom and the basement. A digital audio recorder was setup in the front bedroom which was used as Tom’s office. He had several occurrences and times that he was certain that someone unseen was in that room. A second video recorder was setup in the basement directed to a storage area that was the location of a suspected suicide based on rumor and story. In addition to the remote video and audio recorders scattered throughout the house, I setup two trigger objects.
Our third video camera which used infrared lighting was setup in the basement where we would be holding our first vigil. Once Steve Bolze, our equipment manager, finished setting up the equipment, we performed an EMF baseline sweep of the entire house and all was normal with one exception. As we were finishing the EMF sweep in the basement, I entered the rear storage area where we had a video camera setup. As I took my first step into the room, the Gausmaster pinned to the maximum reading. My first concern was that the wiring for the newly completed construction project went awry and was in need of re-wiring so I documented that reading and suggested to Deanna that she should bring this to Tom’s attention. Our base thermal recordings were normal and showed no fluctuations throughout the evening.
As we began our first vigil, all seemed to be going well. A few orbs were visible on photograph as well as being seen on the view screen on the camcorder where I was stationed. Our resident clairvoyant was having difficulty getting information from the spirits that were definitely there. What was odd about this was that even though the spirit seemed to want the secrets told about his mishap, he would not give us more information. Our resident clairvoyant mentioned that she suddenly felt very cold. Since other PEER members had arrived, Stan walked her direction while taking thermal readings of the air as Bob snapped a picture hoping to capture some type of activity. Even though the thermal detector picked up no change in air temperature, Bob announced he that got an orb right in front of Stan and our resident clairvoyant! Here’s that photo.
Since it seemed that the spirits in the basement were going to remain somewhat uncooperative in providing any more details, we soon decided to break and head upstairs. We spent some time in one of the rooms on the first floor as well as in the second floor bedroom. Now that we were a team of nine (including Deanna), we were able to split up into two teams and cover more space. All the women setup in the kitchen while the guys headed upstairs to the bedroom. I also took this break opportunity to change tapes in the video cameras and check the trigger objects. The quarter trigger object in the kitchen was just as I placed it, perfectly centered. The trigger in the second floor bedroom was a different story however; the quarter was almost completely moved off of the index card on which it was placed. Typically when a trigger object like this is moved, the movement is minimal. Both crews felt uncomfortable in their areas and our resident clairvoyant did pick up a few more names and descriptions of spirits but again, they were mostly family there in the kitchen for Tom. |
This photo was taken by Jan Bolze at the conclusion of the investigaation as she was leaving the house.

EVPs
The EVPs were few on this investigation. Oddly though what we did capture, we cannot explain. There were a few faint voices but of the EVPs clear enough for this venue were these two clips. They almost sound like someone tap dancing. The voices in the background however, we believe are from the PEER crew in the lower level of the house. These clips are of a better quality so give them the chance to cashe in and play them a second time.
Videos
Video evidence was more abundant than the EVPs. Here are four clips that we captured on two different cameras in the basement. Three of the clips you will see here were from a camera using regular lighting. These clips were captured in the room where we had an extremely high EMF reading. The forth clip was taken using infrared lighting. The activity is quick on this one and gets covered by Deanna as she moves her arm and points toward the staircase. The cracking floors were caused by the PEER team just above this area. These clips are of a better quality so give them the chance to cashe in and play them a second time.
