Who said that a house has to be thought of as haunted to have spirits floating around?
Friends of PEER investigators asked if we could use an exercise in paranormal investigation. Now we are not ones to refuse a test or exercise our investigative abilities; so we accepted.
We believe the house built around 1904. It has never been known or suspected as being haunted but there have been one or two instances that had caused a raised eyebrow or two. One of those instances was all about hearing footsteps on a staircase when no one else was home. Another instance of more interest is centered around a mysterious stain that resemble blood on the attic stairs.
Why would there be blood on the stairs you ask? Well, it could be because this house was built for a doctor's house and office. A waiting room, medicine storage cabinet and examination rooms are discreetly utilized in the house as normal living space as well as the operating and recovery rooms which today are seen as bedrooms or a study. Not only did the doctor see patients to prescribe medicine for a patient's cold, flu and ailments, but minor operations were performed here as well.
One day when family decided to visit, they brought their pet dog. On a trip to the attic, probably to search for memories to pass down to a younger generation, the dog decided to tag along. Suspecting nothing out of the ordinary, the dog made it only to the fourth step, where the suspicious stain remained. With one frightening yelp, the dog made a quick u-turn and ran downstairs to the dining room where it cowered in the corner for the rest of the day.
What was it that frightened the dog? Was it something that it heard, or saw or sensed? Since there was a language barrier between the dog and the people in the house at the time, we can only speculate. On the evening of January 11, 2008, it was the job of PEER investigators to try to determine just what it was that frightened the dog.
Oh, and just to make things a bit more interesting, the homeowners also told us that the house was the scene of the suicide of one of the its previous owners, and another owner fell from the roof and eventually died from injuries sustained from that fall.

Investigation Details
There were ten investigators who worked this investigation. We began the evening with an interview of the current homeowners who had lived in the home for several decades.
Following the interview, the homeowners gave us a walk-through of the entire house including the attic and the stairs with the suspect stain. We determined that we would hold two vigils in the house; one in a front bedroom where one of the investigators had a 'feeling', and the other vigil, in the attic. It was a good thing we had coats, it was winter after all. After the crews were setup for the vigils, another team would sweep the house looking for any anomalous EMF or thermal readings with a camera instructed to take pictures if anything out of the ordinary was detected.
Below are several pictures capturing an orb that seemed to be following that team while they swept the house. These pictures were taken when Stan or Bob commented on picking up an increased EMF reading or a decreased temperature. |

There is one more video that captured some activity but we are unable to put it up on the internet right now. During the vigil in the front bedroom, Jan, Brandy, and Tina got into the line of questioning that centered around children and dolls. For some reason, Brandy just thought it was a good idea to bring up that subject.
Questions that were asked were in the line of "is there a little girl here?" and "do you like to play with dolls?" Also, comments were made such as "you can sit here on my lap if you want" and "we're going to leave now, you can come with us if you want."
Then, as the ladies got up and headed out of the room, they passed in front of the camera. Following them like a fourth person in line, an orb passed directly in front of the camera, heading out of the room. Moments later, the orb returned and held steady where Brandy was seated just moments earlier as if to sit on her lap.

So it comes down to the question that everyone wants to know; "is our house haunted?" Well, haunted can be a relative term. We cannot say for certain who the little spirit orbs were that were following the crew around during their sweep, nor do we know who was floating around at the bottom of the attic stairs. It could have been a previous owner of the house, but then it could have also been the spirits of a few neighborhood children. |
