P.E.E.R Investigations
| Private Residence, New Oxford, PA April 28, 2007
A little history, lore, and speculation...
This Victorian Gothic and Italianate style house with a partial Mansard roof was built in 1862. This property is part of an original family farm that encompassed the North West section of New Oxford. Currently, it is a private residence.
The Haunting...
It has been told by family that this Naval officer hung himself in the attic after his retirement even though his obituary states that he “died in the hospital... following an operation for an appendicitis and a complication of diseases.” Well, now that’s a far cry from hanging himself in the attic but we do not know the circumstances of his personal life and military career. Regardless, speculation has it that he still roams and haunts this house. Does he wish he had more time and opportunity to spend with his family since he spent most of his time away serving his country? The property was eventually sold to a family with several children. In the 1970s during one of the boy’s high school years, he decided to move his bedroom up to the attic so he could have “his own space.” Little did he know that the attic would never be “his own space.” At night after going to bed, the lights would be turned back on. He would get out of bed, turn the lights off and go back to sleep only to be awakened with the lights on again. Not only were the lights played with in the house, but alarm clocks would go off in the early hours of the morning and the radio would turn on all by itself. The Naval officer has also been seen in the house by several people and has been identified through family photos. Suicide? I don't know. An unsettled life and death? I think so! |

Investigation Details
There were eight investigators who worked this investigation. We began the evening with an interview of the current homeowners who had lived in the home for over 40 years and had raised several children in the home. During this interview, the homeowners described several instances of strange occurrences which ranged from missing items, reset clocks and alarms, to their children, business customers, and employees actually seeing the spirit of a bearded man in a dark suit walking throughout the house. They also recounted several instances when they met with the officer's family members who expressed concerns and suspicions concerning his death.
Following the interview, the homeowners gave us a walk-through of the entire house including the attic. The attic included the room that was a finished space that one of their sons used as a bedroom for a period of time. It was in this attic that the son had experienced many (almost constant) occasions with disturbances in the lighting and sounds in the room. Most of the attic however, was unfinished space used for storage and one of those rooms had exposed suspended horizontal beams that were high enough from the floor that they could have been used for a person to hang himself if he chose to do so.
Below are several details and finding of our investigation. |
Click the photo for a closer look. When I saw this photo, I was both intrigued and pleased at the same time. This photo was taken during the lights out vigil in the bedroom when we were filming all the flying orbs in the room. There were periods of time when we would see orb movement on the video and one question kept coming into my mind; "where are they going?" Well, I guess that question is answered with this photo. After they would pass by Elaine and me, they would hover above us near the ceiling. |
The single orb in this photo may be a little blurry but there's no doubt that it is there and visible against these dark green walls. Click the photo for a closer look or Click here for a closer look at the 'hot spot'. |
Again, a single orb against the dark green walls. Click the photo for a closer look or Click here for a closer look at the 'hot spot'. |
This time the orb is in front of the white door so I darkened the gamma for better visibility. Do you see the wall mounted air conditioner near the ceiling on the upper left of the photo? This is a perfect example of why we first attempt to debunk a photo, sound or anything else before calling it an anomaly without going over the edge. It's would be an easy mistake to call this an orb in motion. Click the photo for a closer look or Click here for a closer look at the 'hot spot'. |
Video Recordings
This clip is an avi so it may take some extra time to download but it is well worth the hassle. Try to play about 20-30 seconds then stop and restart the video. This should give time for the buffer to get ahead of the play. Click to watch the first 3-minute clip of our flying orbs captured during an investigation on April 28, 2007. Most orbs will be seen in the bottom right side of the screen. Look close because they are faint without the use of a high resolution screen, even though on the original tape, they are quite clear. Now click to watch the first 10-minute clip of our flying orbs. This clip may not be of the same quality but I think you'll find it just as interesting. Excerpt of the Fliers Clip |
We video taped approximately 43 minutes during this investigation. Here is an 18-minute clip of our flying orbs. This clip begins with a part of the interview of the property owners. The Fliers Clip with interview |
| Thermal and EMF Readings Two emf detectors and one thermal detector were utilized during this investigation. Reading throughout the entire house were considered normal and minimal to non-existent until we returned to the owner's bedroom for a second time. Emf detection was then registered on both emf detectors while at the same time, investigators were getting digital photos of orbs in the same area. |
| Psychic and General thoughts and Readings
After a group review of the investigation's findings as laid out above and interviews with the current owners, it is the general consensus that this property is definitely haunted with at least one spirit which we feel is the spirit of the military officer, a previous home owner. |
